They have jl wait, and waiting near gaming hells turns out to be a bad idea. An Invitation to Sin. I’m sure you could figure it out if you didn’t do that, but especially after peaking ahead to see who our hero and heroine will be in book 3, I see that the author is laying the groundwork for future romances in the background and subplot of the previous ones.
As for Nasty Nerissa, I truly hope she eventually gets her comeuppance and that it is icky and very painful. The plot of Tempting Fortune is intriguing, and kept me tearing through the pages.
Tempting Fortune (Malloren, book 2) by Jo Beverley
I thought it was a mishap with the first one, but it happened again here. One of the plot threads left over from My Lady Notorious is picked up at the beginning of this book, with Bryght travelling to Kent in order to retrieve a letter written by his former mistress.
Then the auction, and Bryght feeling compelled to save her, Fort coming in and nearly screwing it all up Preview — Tempting Fortune by Jo Beverley. But she wants nothing to temptinng with a man who is known to be a high-stakes gambler.
Three stars might have sufficed before view spoiler [the wedding temptimg non-consummation and flight hide spoiler ]. Now, with me, that’s not usually a problem, since I myself, on occasion, have acted the stubborn idiot.

It’s a common-enough tale of the gaming-madness that can bring ruin to families, but this se So the lowest rating of a Jo Beverley novel so far. Jan 08, Hackmops rated it liked it Shelves: He saves Portia selflessly again and again, and acts purely out of love for her and a desire to make her his wife.
Characters Bryght is a gambler with temptting enough fortune, and Io catch whiffs of his maturity through the story.

He exhibited a total lack of concern for his family and him being the head and he never learned from his father’s mistakes as well as his suicide. She gets this high and mighty attitude, and turns downright rude to Bryght.
While Bryght remains so, Portia takes a sharp dive into nutsville, spouting all sorts of nonsense about not trusting him and running away on their wedding night because she thinks he killed her brother. My problem with Bryght runs parallel, actually. A Lady’s Secret 9. Want to Read saving…. I’ve given this a B for narration and B- for content, so I’ll leave it at 4 stars here. Deirdre and Don Juan. She insists on rebuffing Bryght at every turn, no matter his good acts towards her, and his obvious feelings for her. This book did that. But anyway, now that he knows the virgin who is basically going to be raped for gaming debts, he’s all chivalry.

That’s the tejpting with not reading a series in order, I suppose. I hated the heroine and the plot drove me mad at the end. He’s quite willing to sacrifice his friend if he can screw a Malloren. Poor schmuck kept saving her from ruin even after she: His enemies see foisting her on him in marriage as revenge and I agreed with them, it would be capital punishment.
Bryght does absolutely nothing to warrant any sort of distrust in fact, he does entirely too much to win her trust! Lord Arcenbryght Malloren is done with love.
