I have already subscribed, loads of excellent content! Andy April 11, at 7: Mahesh May 19, at 3: Keep us posted on your experiences with it…. Let me just say that Unisphere is a much-needed improvement over the previous generation interface Navisphere Express for this price range. Tom September 19, at 2: You can get them through distribution like ingram micro, but i do not recall what the part number was. Shawn April 20, at 7: When not helping people learn about protecting their data from disasters, he is usually working on stuff in his home lab or spending time with his family.
When I opened it up I noticed there were 3 drives that had not been used, I thought … well, how odd is that… why would it leave disks unused if I told it to auto-provision. Justin October 25, at 6: Have you experienced anything like that in your testing as well?
Mahesh May 28, at 4: I still like the P if you dont need file protocols. Justin is a Technical Alliances Architect for Zerto. I always like to hear what kinda load other people are putting on them.
How many drives do you have in the unit? Unfortunately I have not found any ability to do that. Will the SAS model suffice?
I believe there is a maximum number of drives per storage pool, but you would have to check with EMC to see what that limit is. Also would you please 3010 about using SAS vs. This is some pretty sweet stuff. Depending on the type of disk you have, and the type of pool you want, you are required to add drives to that pool in a certain order.
Justin May 25, at 8: I was leaning towards the P G3 too! Personally if i had to chose between the two i smc purchase on price as i like both. I downloaded the license file and then it went right back emx the Unisphere interface and was like … 31000 here to upload the license. Well both the 2. When the initial management IP addresses and stuff were set up it asked to go out on the internet and register the SAN, and then it provided a link to a license file.
Thanks Justin, that was very useful. At first glance the VNXe looks much like the Clariion AX4, the only thing that is different physically is the front bezel and the interfaces on the controllers.
ABID October 25, at No, no raid 0 support. Thank you for writing this blog. The P will let you do anything you want so it is much more flexible. Instead we presented the same space through a windows file server for better quote management support.
EMC VNXe Series SAN & NAS Upgrades
While setting this thing up I found that it was super easy to get the license key installed. Also the P does not have the drive restrictions that the VNXe does either…. Dzmitryj September 29, at Also included but not in the chart is the deduplication license. Hey Justin, we are looking at afor an gnxe storage in NFS, current dl is getin a bit over tired, these storage pools have me concerned, does this mean the size of a folder is limited?
Would end users really notice the difference?? Can you please advice on which interface I should go for? Justin September 2, at 7: Justin September 19, at 7: Justin May 19, at Justin September 29, at 5: Justin April 11, at 8: I am currently working with this devices.
